This led me down a rabbit hole and just now I realized Wikipedia is open source [0], not sure if I'm the only one who didn't know that, but there it goes. Of course, I was aware that the framework they use is open-source [1] and developed by them, just didn't know the website itself was too.

Of course it’s open source. How else would anyone be able to just go in and edit any page?

By your same logic, is social media open source as you can post comments on the posts of others? Is the level editor for popular games open source? Of course not. The ability to edit a page is not any kind of indicator of license.

At the same time you can't edit or delete others' pages and comments

Mediawiki beat them there by a month: https://wikis.world/@mediawiki/110008281749956913

The wikis.world instance is run by Mediawiki community members.

Wikipedia isn't a person. What social media presence does Wikipedia as an organization need?

Did you just question the existence of thousands of companies and organizations on Twitter, Facebook , Instagram, etc?

Have you never?

If not, time to start.

Sadly their IM spaces have basically informally migrated to closed-source offerings like Discord and Telegram.

What's mastadon?

OSS federated twitter clone.

Arguably offers more compelling features than Twitter.

Nothing.

MastOdon, OTOH, is a thing.
