I assume this to be a minority opinion, but since we're talking about hacker culture, let me argue in favour of the true hacker spirit: the one where only code and curiosity counts, not bloody politics and rules. That ain't no hacker culture, sorry. We used to bond through beautiful code and cheeky pseudonyms, not through flags and political affiliations. Hackers used to despise politics, code of conducts and hierarchy.
