Tear downs suggest healthy profit margins in EV. Maybe this cost element was more nakedly exposed, but based on what I've read casually on car magazines even with the giant pressed elements, the BoM is nothing like the car-price.
I suspect because batteries are a JV with people more used to the chem/flow/assemble process there, it's pricepoint reflects reality a bit more strongly?
