The meta question of whether tech possibly can/does expose this to people, or whether it's all prescribed paths we can only narrowly walk down occupied my mindikr crazy.

Steve Jobs quote in the center:

> When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and your life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money.

> That's a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you. And you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.

> Once you learn that, you'll never be the same again.

There's a moral/spiritual/logical need to raise a humanity that believes in themselves. To me, computers quickly became the ultimate Lego, a single machine that could express or do anything if I could engage it right. Then a way to communicate & collaborate any way I can imagine.

Bt contrast most tech feels, honestly, infernal. Entrapping, enshittifying, limiting the human view.

The forces lined up against humanity are many. But positive success isn't just fighting the vultures, the Intellectual Property pretense that thought is owned. It's establishing a positive human basis. It's validating the explorers. It's raising up the platforms to be more useful, more extropic, more human, more boldly intra-faced.

Tech right now is the enemy to the premise here. Except for the gross libertarian model where freedom is purely individual, where humanity doesn't matter and being able to singularly make just yourself better, even if my mentally enslaving the world & it's people with ever-more quasi-mystical cyber-entrapment & trained helplessness counts. I hope tech can actually democratize & expose humanity to the premise of competency & capability, not just be used to leash us.
