Elon Musk’s cost-cutting drive at Twitter (ft.com)

“It’s smoke and mirrors,” one former senior staffer said. “[Musk] is doing all this deferring of eventual costs — so he can do the victory lap.”

That much is clear. The site is falling apart. Every few days images stop working for me, lists routinely fail to load and features often fail.

His leadership decisions are equally arbitrary, his latest having been to remove the attribution for recommended posts, meaning users can't identify which of their followers it came from. Making bookmarks public was an equally bizarre decision nobody seems to like.

It is evident Elon's timeline is just an unending torrent of shit and he periodically looks at it and calls it a day. He is a twitter dilettante to whom it is inconceivable that people could behave differently.
