Probably got traction because the headline is much clearer and the language is not twisted by the YC PR team.


The best startups are founded in downturns. I wish there was funding to expand YC with so much great talent now available in the market.


It sucks for those impacted but at least it's not some BS excuse like in most recent layoffs. I hope they find new jobs soon.


Laid off. I can understand why YC PR would use that weird language, but why copy it?


Because that's the term being used for mass firings, even if you don't like it. You can look it up in a dictionary, it's a valid word.


What dictionary are you using? Impacted is being strongly affected by something. It's a vague term that avoids using the specific thing that happen: people were laid off. Being impacted could also mean got a promotion.
