Ask HN: Should I pull (some) cash out of BofA?
4 points by burner_bank on March 11, 2023 | hide | past | favorite | 4 comments
I have checking and savings accounts with Bank of America, none of which exceed $250k, so they should be covered by the FDIC. That said; should I pull out ~$20k in cash to cover living expenses or emergencies?

BoA has spent decades acquiring one unethical competitor after another (eg:Sovran, MBNA, Countrywide) which seems to help explain their long, long, long history of treating customers poorly.

The answer to 'Should I pull funds out of BoA?' would always seem to be 'Yes'.

What would you do if BofA either temporarily halted withdrawals or imposed impractical limits on withdrawals?

There are unfortunately many paths forward that don't involve outright bank failure.

Definitely should take financial advice from an Internet forum.

Bank of America is run by scumbags. Given the choice, I'd rather not do business with them.
