On: Twitter to charge users to secure accounts via text message

Supposedly, for years now mobile operators oversees were using bot accounts to send millions of 2FA activation texts and basically farming money from twitter who would (unknowingly?) foot the bill. Elon mentioned this not long after acquisition.
