Factories filter for a lot things.

These people are on purpose releasing things that can modify the atmosphere in the most extreme/powerful way possible.

That can backfire horribly.

I agree. Factories and cars are heavily regulated, and have maximum amounts of contamination they can release (assuming the local government actually takes a look and the inspectors are nor bribed).

I can't read the article. How much are they releasing? Sometimes these projects are just a feel good project to scam funds from green enthusiastic. To make a huge impact, you need to release a lot of the material. That's expensive, So the only way to release a lot is as side effect of profitable activity, so factories and cars must be regulated.

>> a single experiment with remediation

I can't read the article. How are they going to remediate it? If they are releasing sulphur particles, probably he only remediation is to wait a few years until they get naturally cleaned (and enjoy a tiny reduction of the temperature and a tiny increase of acid rain meanwhile).

I wonder if a government can even stop a rich enough person from controlling the global thermostat. I prefer cooler, so if they want to turn it down a couple degrees, you won't find me complaining.

Either the atmosphere can be damaged by human's releasing stuff, or it can't. If it can, then we're on the side of curtailing human activity that damages the environment.

Releasing things like CO2. Methane, nitrous oxide.

By the gigaton.

If we're safe, if the science is wrong, if the atmosphere is too robust to be affected by an industrial societies entire output, then there's no issue with this guy doing what he's doing. Right?
