@apenwarr -- how about a free Tailscale hookup for Ukraine to run over Starlink then?


Imagine, someone gives you access to something for free, provided you follow certain rules. You then break those rules you agreed to follow...

Be happy they are only enforcing the rules rather than taking away the free service completely. Be happy you were given this gift in the first place. Imagine what it would be like if it was never given.

Also consider they are strictly following the rules w.r.t. HIMARs and not firing them into Russia.


Last time I checked (October 2022) ~11.7k out of 18k Ukrainian Starlink terminals were bought and paid for by Poland.


The US is a large contributor to covering the costs as well. The terminal is the smaller part of the cost, connectivity is an ongoing cost. Even if they were paying, there is an agreement or ToS for all customers.
