It's incredibly annoying to read all these news articles that really never touch upon or lead with fact that Google basically invented the technology, has had similar one for some time (even made the news with the engineer who thought it was sentient) and now are making it public, albeit due to pressure from ChatGPT. Maybe AI summarizing the actual news in articles and get rid of the fluff would be actually worthwhile.

Who cares, ideas cost penny, execution is the king.

Annoying or not, this "fight" only helps us, the users. Monopolies suck!

Correct. The headlines are made to hype and make others exaggerate and bring euphoria about ChatGPT's capabilities despite Google being the creators of LLMs.

They have already forgotten about DeepMind, Lambda and AlphaGo and somehow Google is going to be dead in two years? Please.

I guess Microsoft's 'surprise' event was to gate crash Google's one. [0] Microsoft's 'surprise' event was deliberately co-ordinated to steal Google's AI announcement.

Microsoft is getting clever at hyping and has learned from 12 years ago.
