Ask HN: Fallout of Stable Diffusion/Getty Lawsuit?
2 points by BaculumMeumEst on Jan 18, 2023 | hide | past | favorite | 2 comments
It was recently reported that Getty Images is suing Stability AI for using scraped Getty images in its training dataset.

Hypothetically, if a result of the lawsuit would be that Stability AI is no longer be permitted to use its current dataset, what do you think would happen next?

Aren't communities like civitai and huggingface already building derivative models based on the datasets already available?

If individuals use models circulated in the open source community that include Getty Images in commercial products (as I expect they would), and they don't disclose how those images are produced, how would they be stopped?

Comments moved thither. Thanks!
