My concern is that no well-intentioned company will pay 8-9 figures for such an app, so it's likely a data harvesting and/or advertising operation which is disgusting especially when it comes to kids.


Discord already has Facebook level tracking, and in some cases even more. They don't delete anything.


I mean, they don't automatically delete your account and messages after 5 years. They did get fined for this.

But I don't want them to do this. Keeping my messages is the service they are providing to me, the customer. I would be furious if they nuked my account as the regulator suggests. This isn't like advertising companies hoarding data indefinitely, because it's actually in the users interest. It's a shame regulators choose not to see the difference
