Overturning zoning wholesale in the US would probably lead to the most improvement in societal outcomes possible from one law. You'd get higher population density in every city. A tiny list of likely outcomes:
- Lower per capita infrastructure costs
- Lower BMI (more walking as things are closer together)
- Lower per capita energy usage and CO2 emissions
- Fewer school shootings (they decrease as neighborhood density increases)
I agree with most but don’t see how it would lower school shootings (source for your statement?). Also there are definitely other ways to prevent that.
