Seems like this is only applicable in China.


This is a criticism of Apple though, so why would that be a defense?


Exactly, if “In China” was added to the title it would be a lot less misleading. As it stands it seems like it was purposefully left out to garner more attention.


Hong Kong as well.


Unfortunately Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region of China and has been under Chinese rule for a number of years now...


But Hong Kong is still a separate legal jurisdiction, and in this particular case, the "misinformation" law does not apply to Hong Kong.

If what you say is the reason, then why won't Safari block gitlab.com in Macau also?

In short, Apple messed up.


I think that distinction has pretty much been smashed over the last couple of years.


Unfortunately yes it has, but I don't think Apple should be helping the CCP to speed up the process.


I certainly won't argue with that.
