Money Will Kill ChatGPT’s Magic (theatlantic.com)

ChatGPT/GPT-3 magic for me is its (near) "universality". At some point, The openAI simple API model may turn into a highly developped web of segmented/specific (= better valued) services (like Watson now ?). This mean we lose that "freeform" experience (= difficult to value cause more like a generic commodity)

Apart from this segmentation, there is the spectre of increased throttling to also dampen that magic. Not only legal but economic, reputational [1], cultural [2] and, what else ? Even OSS models like SD are already wavering.

Given at work we are starting to explore using the paid fine tuning feature, anecdotally I can't agree with the articles premise.

Also, it's way too early in it's commercial development to make such calls.
