Fun fact. DHL owns an electric vehicle company, StreetScooter, that produces DHL last kilometer delivery vehicles.

This makes sense for the small stop and go trucks for around town, but I'm not sure if it's that great of an idea for longer haul trips between distribution centers

Most (all?) of the long haul mail is handled by trucking contractors rather than the post office directly
