Do you need new phones every 2 years? How to get more out of your devices (cnn.com)

I still have my six-year-old iPhone 5S. Great panic yesterday when I thought I'd lost it. Wondering greatly how I could get a phone small enough to match my 'lost' one.

Great relief this morning when I retraced my steps and discovered it was being held in a shop I'd visited yesterday.

I was about to start the search for an iPhone 13 Mini. I note that most people use those huge iPhone 14 monstrosities. I did my time with large heavy mobile phones back in the 1990s and early 2000s. I don't wish to repeat it.

I bought this year because the new camera system was getting great reviews (iPhone). I’ve a couple very young kids and most of the photos/videos end up being taken on the phone, and the years go quick, so happy to pay to capture those moments a little better before they’re gone.

The CPU speed bumps or other minor improvements? Yeah, probably not worth another $1000.

I keep my iPhones for 3/4 years and only change when I notice things like browsing a website or switching between apps starts to feel noticeably slower.

Two suggestions to "get more out of your devices" was to donate or sell. Not entirely sure how that achieves getting more out of your device...
