When drivers are attacked, Uber leaves police waiting for help (theverge.com)

So, Uber literally helps riders get away with murder until they can be bothered to respond to police subpoenas for one of their drivers being carjacked — sending the info multiple weeks later.

Yet another example of how Uper's corporate ethos is: "screw everyone else, we'll just do whatever is good for us". But 'oooh, it is a tech company disrupting things so we should give them some slack'. No, if Uber was actually a tech company, they whould be able to respond to such requests faster than anyone else; the police should have the data so fast they wonder how it was done.

Uber is not a tech company, they are simply a herd of VC backed scofflaws with a little bit of software sprinkled on top. They are not advancing technology at all.

To me, the title was confusing, it sounded like it was about how Uber failed to respond in real time to emergency calls.

If I could, I would change the "When" to "After" despite HN guidelines to the contrary.

Looks like Uber is setting itself up for some major lawsuits.
