If Ticketmaster is a greedy capitalist, so is Taylor Swift (economist.com)

Yup. She doesn’t do all those gym reps, vocal runs and photo shoots out of the goodness of her heart. It’s a job, one which she’s at the top of the pile at the moment. Money might be dirty but it it’s useful, and you can see people’s character when they get too much of it.

She can always organize or participate in something that raises money for a cause as there’s a good tradition of rock/pop/entertainment stars doing this. Geldof’s still alive as I recall along with others who did this over the decades if she needs advice. Lots of needy causes. Lots of people would get on board with this, particularly if it felt more honest than mercenary.

Maybe she donates en masse without notoriety. Some do. Maybe it’s just a machine for her. It is for others (see Floyd, Pink). Ball’s in her court.

Edit: there’s lots of ways organizations (and Swift is an organization) can help it. Good marketing and just good humanity: https://www.bbc.com/news/business-63836014

Sure. But Swift produces something that people actually want. while Ticketmaster interposes itself between the two while providing practically no added value. They are "rent-seekers", holding monopolist contracts with performing arts venues, and using that to extract wealth while providing as little service as they can get away with.

At its best, capitalism plays various providers against each other to arrive at something like a price discovery that keeps everybody's head above water. But that idealized model often fails, and Ticketmaster is the poster boy for one type of such failure.
