Ask HN: What's a good strategy to get revenue from a content-based side hustle?

I'm going to try a side hustle based on learning content.

What do you think is the best approach to get some revenue between these two?

- Free content until building a user base, then start with "premium" content like for example a course.

- Paid content with a sneak peek. Like when books offer you a free chapter before purchasing it.

Benefits of the first one is that I could evaluate the interest with a lower effort. By contrast, in the second case I would need to offer a "full experience" from day one.

However, if playing the hype correctly, I do believe the second is more prone to provide a bigger revenue, even faster than the first one.

If it is a side hustle then go with someone already in the content business. If you have a good voice you could summarize books on blinkist and other short summary apps. If you are an data artists you could generate infographics for news articles. If you are a DIY enthusiast you could could generate videos on how to build projects and sell the step by step plans and even materials.
