I wonder how many of these have been delivered in Bay Area. I see at least two Rivians every single day. I took a ride with a friend of mine in his Rivian and I was very pleasantly surprised. The car had definitely a wow effect on me.
It's really exciting to see a good EV that doesn't have the Tesla/Musk cult of personality baggage. I just want a good daily driver that doesn't try to be humanity's savior... looking at the Rivians and the Subaru Solterra (a rebadged Toyota BZ4K, I think)
The Rivians are expensive and hard to come by, but they're much better looking than Tesla's.
Same holds for Lucid, which I find much more aesthetically pleasing compared to Tesla's offerings.
I do credit Musk and Tesla for starting the revolution, but the real game-changer was Volkswagen betting the company on BEV's. That's when other car companies started to take notice.
I don't trust Musk as a leader after what he's doing to Twitter. And all the cover ups about why they removed radar and sonar etc from the Teslas, and the false advertising about self driving and battery replacements and all that. They may be good cars, but I'd rather go with a good enough car from someone less manipulative.
This sounds very exciting and I'm very interested in Amazon's experiences with running such a large EV fleet.
Do the vans have sufficient range? Do they need a lot of maintenance? Do they break down often? Are the maintenance costs lower than those of an ICE van?
