Russia is a very effective use of implied terror to impact diplomatic changes.

They know quite well if any Western-own company infrastructure in space is hit by russian military that will lead to a very uncomfortable escalation.

Is it leading to diplomatic changes?

I can't quite figure out what their goal is here. They know about the uncomfortable escalation. We know they know about the uncomfortable explanation. They know we know they know.

It doesn't seem to change anything. The war continues on pretty much the same track as it always has. The US doesn't intend to engage more than it already is; it hasn't been scared off from anything.

At best it seems to be some kind of stochastic mischief. It unsettles the American populace, who keep having to ask, "Sure, he won't, but what if..." The leadership keeps its eye on the ball, but all of that mischief increases the opportunity to make a mistake. And to be unsure when they have.

Sorta like blowing up company infrastructure such as gas pipelines?

There's an old saying that mentions 'slippery slopes'.

I wasn't aware that any major government had unquestionable proof that any particular group was responsible for NordStream 2 explosion. If the US had a video of a Russian sub doing it, you can bet we'd be showing it to the world.

Russia is a terrorist state.
