The guy who wrote this blog post also previously published an "educational" ransomware project that was widely-abused for half a decade.

Just to add some context to this guy's "opinions" -- for those who didn't know.

I wouldn't take my advice from someone who open-sourced a fully functional ransomware project for some klout.




Why? The author of Metasploit was widely seen as a "bad guy" by nearly everyone until security researchers realized it was a net-positive to the security community.

If my system gets hit with a ransomware that's open source (and thereby likely very easy to create antivirus signatures for), I'd blame my system and the attacker, not the author.
