Sure. It still happens. Are you going to follow up on each of the mountain of reports that are submitted?

Me? Of course not. But I'd imagine it's somebody's job to do some of that, especially if false reports are really an issue.

On the flip side, are you going to do something that 1) has no clear benefit, and 2) has a (maybe small) chance of landing you in prison?
