DeSantis ships Florida migrants to Martha's Vineyard (politico.com)

Next time there's a hurricane that hits Florida, the folks in Massachusetts (and others appalled by this, erm, "Christian" behaviour) can ship lots of paper towels to help out. DeSantis can then throw them from the back of a truck in emulation of his political mentor.

I don’t see why this is considered appalling. Massachusetts declared itself a “sanctuary state”, one that is welcoming to illegal immigrants and won’t prosecute them for entering the country illegally. Surely asking some illegal immigrants if they want to visit Martha’s Vineyard and putting the volunteers on a bus or a plane is a good thing? After all, if they stayed in Florida they would be subject to arrest at any time.

Border towns in Texas and Arizona are seeing ten thousand or more illegal immigrants per day. We can’t leave them all there or they will starve. If we can’t deport them then we must spread them around. Personally I am more in favor of deporting them (after all, by our standards they have committed a felony), but as long as we have sanctuary states to send them to then surely that is just as good.

Those Massachusetts voters are going to vote on whether they want to bail out homeowners from Florida.

Yeah, next time there’s a natural disaster in these southern states, we can send those who lost their homes to central or South America. Sauce for the goose and gander and all that, right? People should be smart enough by now to stop living where the tides run and the winds blow.

Natural disasters, sure, but I was thinking of the sea, which affects all Florida home owners, and predictably. Not like a natural disaster, which is almost a lottery. You never really know the path of the hurricane. The probability of hurricanes may be rising, but it basically tears up a few houses that won/lost the path lottery, so the cost hits randomly.

The sea isn't like that. Everyone who's bought property in Florida in the past decades knew what's happening, and it's clear that Florida will need expensive new infrastructure to supply those properties with freshwater fairly soon. Who is going to pay for that? Florida's behaviour towards Massachusetts today influences what the voters' answer will be when Florida asks the rest of the union for help with that water.

Someone whose land is going to be submerged by the sea in maybe twenty years, and who's going to ask for expensive help to keep that land livable for those few years, needs to show solidarity. To flaunt solidarity.

“History does not look kindly on leaders who treat human beings like cargo, loading them up and sending them a thousand miles away without telling them their destination.”

Both party suck in the US . However Biden was doing the same thing and shipping illegals at night to republican states as well.

I don't see Desantis as the problem here. I see the Democrat leaders as the problem.

The democrat leaders were clearly not sincere when they declared their state as a sanctuary state ,since they got off guard by just 50 illegals. Not to mention the other democrat self declared sanctuary state having to call a state of emergency to handle the illegals they claimed to want to take in.

And now they’ve kicked those 50 illegal immigrants out a day later. That’s appalling; how could they not afford to house 50 people?

They could have easily housed them , being its one of the wealthiest elites playground for the uber rich.

Heck they could have even likely housed them all in one of their guest houses or servants quarter on the Island. Better yet they could have allowed them to stay on the main house for the 11 months they don't even live in their property.

This reminds me of the time Ted Kennedy was pushing for alternative wind energy until a study came back stating that the most efficient place to house them was right of marthas vineyards. Then he shut up quickly about it because it would have ruined their view. Clearly Martha's vineyard is a soft spot and off limits for the hypocrites.

I only Hope Desantis uses Florida money next to purchases property in Martha's vineyard and starts building housing for the homeless right next to them. Then will see how caring they really are.

These are the same people that love telling us what to do, but make themselves exempt from it all.

I wish I could get a free trip to Martha’s Vineyard.
