Seriously, though, while Canada’s healthcare system is under great strain due to staffing issues caused by the pandemic, it is well within the top third of global healthcare rankings. It needs improvements but “Reason” is engaged in fear-mongering for the benefit of its wealthy interests. Universal single-source healthcare would harm profits, after all.
The Canadian system has been failing well before covid. I have many examples, personally and from friends and family that dont paint our system as this shining beacon of healthcare. I often see left leaning Americans point at our system as if it is better than the American system. It is not it just has different trade offs such as long wait times and low wages for medical professionals.
The point is that it’s not all the “we must murder your granny!” hyperbole that this media is making it out to be. It isn’t the best, it’s better than the median, and it’s a hell of a lot better than what many others have access to. However, I do often see right leaning Canadians encouraging—and right wing politicians implement—cut backs that would make our system considerably worse off.

This article reminds me of the "death panels" propaganda used to fight Obamacare.
Intentionally causing a patient to die is not medical care. I live in Canada and I fear some day when I'm old I may be stuck living in a building where these "angels of death" visit the various rooms down the hall from me. Chilling.
