Being rich sure has its perks though, all these extra chances the rest of us don't get.


Wouldn't any criminal have the same right to request this from a judge? How are rich people treated differently?


Appeals have to be initiated within a year, and there are no public defenders for them.

Don't appeals usually occur _from_ prison? Why was she not immediately incarcerated after the guilty verdict?


Not necessary. She was not sentenced yet. And even sentence does not have to start right away.


Everything about this legitimately seems like a plot from Silicon Valley. Life imitates art?
