My favorites are Opus Magnum and 20th Century Food Court from Last Call BBS. The later one even has a similar modular synth-like mechanic of connecting modules with signal wires.
I own a modular synth so I always figured I'd have no reason to play this game since I could just use my synth (and one of the main reasons I like it is the physicality of it). But I recently started getting into some Zachtronics games, so now I think I may have to finally check out this game.
I can't speak to how accurately it emulates a modular synth, but I'd imagine the answer is "not very well". It's a puzzle game ultimately, and so the individual modules are tuned to be puzzle pieces. They had a demo at one point, might still.
Isn’t his art style pretty ubiquitous. I see it all over and mid journey does a great job replicating it.
He could have been commissioned to draw the art but I doubt it.
