Great timing, I’m currently reading Searching for Charlie by Tom Scott. It’s about Charles Upham who was awarded the VC twice during WW2 and spent some time in Colditz.
Colditz is on my list to do more reading into. I was always under the impression that it was one of the worst camps to end up in but that doesn’t appear to be the case.
From the “Prominente” housed there to the surrender of the guards to the prisoners near the end of the war there are some fascinating stories there.
I still remember reading the book as a kid. I was probably a bit too young for it and found it pretty...intense. Didn't know there was a film - will try to find it.
