Game is getting a lot of had press, and for good reason. It's extremely predatory, but it's a huge IP and so it is expected for it to be making a lot of money.

You definitely have to suffer if overall the strategic is offering off though, reputation is a long term consideration and blizzard is getting worse and worse with each new release.

I think Europe is starting to legislate these lootboxes games too.

Are there any demographics information about the people who spend a lot of money on microtransactions? There’s obviously a decent chunk of the population who does but Im not aware of anyone in my circles with this habit. Is it mostly children?

Some of my friends try to hide the amount spent in micro transactions. One reason, is that they do not want to think about it, as it would be way more money than they would like. The transactions are spread over time, so each one is a bit less “impactful” at their wallet. Also, nobody is sure about the exact amount.

Another reason is that mobile games are considered childish. So admitting to spending money on them has the danger of people considering them childish. At least in their minds.

I think it is split into two groups, the small percent of whales that contribute a huge percent of the revenue, and a larger minority of users who consider spending money on the game as an expense like going out for drinks or other entertainment. The majority of users just exist to make a game popular as a means to entice whales who will spend money.

We are sort of in a transition period where only more veteran gamers experienced the norm of having fixed cost games, whereas now microtransaction based monetization are normalized.

that's surprisingly low for such a big IP

Genshin Impact made 60 millions USD the 1st week, 58% outside of china, so 34 millions in the west! for a totally new IP and a new studio

49 millions for a whole month, is so bad for a mobile game

Doesn’t seem too bad to me, given that almost all the press I’ve read about it has been negative.

the press was positive before, and after the release

then once users got to play, backlash started to emerge with the P2W fiasco and journalists had to clarify and follow the users

for a Diablo game it is very bad

did you just say "15% lower than the largest in history is so bad" ?

Immortal is not a random game, it is a Diablo game

Diablo 3: "The game set a new record for "fastest-selling PC game" by selling over 3.5 million copies in the first 24 hours of its release"

Genshin impact released in 2020, 2 years passed and in the West mobile gaming revenue almost doubled (from 115 billions to 164 billions), so there is room to double Genshin's record

If blizzard was smart, it could have set a new record with Immortal; but they failed miserably with their biggest IP

So no, it's not 15%, it's close to 30-40% less if the game was released during the same timeline

So, that's not really what I asked you

Anyway you seem to believe you know how to release billion dollar games, and you seem unwilling to answer the question I asked you

Good luck

No, i stay objective with my analysis

Something more people should do, including you

You didn't answer my question. That's not analysis or objectivity, and it's definitely not an opportunity for you to scold

it is an analysis and it is an objective one

and it wasn't an opportunity to scold you, i apologies if that is how you felt, it wasn't my intention

it's only just estimated revenue from a 3rd party anyways

I guess you rent a premium game experience at a premium. from that aspect I think it is fair enough.

Is it fun to play?

Fun is relative, but coming from someone that enjoyed Diablo 3 and likes that kinda of games... it kinda is fun, the game itself is well made, the core mechanics is fun (again if you like this type of game). But you are overwhelmed with popups, stuff shining asking for your money. I gave up after a couple hours. Even though the core game is ok the stuff around makes you feel you are in cheap gacha game where you pay to pay. You can easily find on youtube the explanations of how the micro transaction in the game works, and it is just disgusting what they are doing.

I’m old and think Diablo I with the hellfire expansion is the best Diablo

not from me
