This appears to be reporting on a paper published in "Cryptoeconomic Systems", a relatively new journal with negligible impact.

The paper [1] proposes the use of a Szilard engine to convert data into energy. This is an astoundingly silly concept on the border between thermodynamics and information theory -- it is not something which can be physically realized in any practical form.

I don't understand. The article claims the coin can be "consumed" to produce 1 KWH of electricity (in the example) but how does that happen?

Also, if this works, let call them "Galactic standard credits"


That is a great term, has a nice ring to it. Also, highly ponziable to make it into a cryptocurrency token.
