This is Woit’s blog post about the (just-released) memoir, and while he’s respectful and graceful, he spends most of it rehashing his strong and long-standing disagreements with the (now-dead) author and the field he had worked in. Those are worth talking about, but maybe a link that discussed the book’s actual content in more depth would be better?
I know that Woit has a lot of traction on HN but I thought I'd just mention that in the theoretical physics community, Woit is widely considered a crackpot. Source: I was a professional researcher in theoretical physics, before I decided I couldn't stand the academia.
Ad hominem attacks (name-calling) and gossip are not welcome here. If you believe Woit is a crackpot, then at least take ownership of this remark.
