I was once forced to testify in court about an individual, and I carefully explained how the individual asserted one thing, while the generally accepted truth was another. His attorney hammered at me "so you are calling my client a liar?!" I said "no a lie as an intentional mis-statement of the truth. I think your client actually believes what he is saying."


You can lie to anyone, and get away with it. But the moment you lie to yourself you'll eventually get caught in a trap your lies create.
