These kind of articles are so dumb. As if electric companies/ranges don't run equally powerful advertising and lobbying campaigns.

It's okay to like or dislike something without being portrayed as some sort of victim of an information war!

What advertising for electric companies/ranges has equally powerful influence as "cooking with gas"? Google n-gram shows a clear spike at the time the gas industry promoted that phrase.

I think it's fine to not like things for for multiple reasons, including its use of advertising.

I mean, I both don't like the smell and health effects of cigarettes and I don't like the "Torches of Freedom" advertising campaign.

And before I read this (the previous time Tomte posted it, at https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=28402439 ), I didn't know about the marketing campaign influence.
