Are you utilizing your IRL social circle? 100% of the jobs I've had in the last 15 years have come from someone I know reaching out and saying, "hey, the company I work for is hiring and I think you'd be a great fit."

Now, some of that was motivated by referral bonuses on their part, but still.

The old cliche that "it's not what you know but who you know" is still very much a thing.




I'm not the parent, but I can't do that, because, I get shot if I do better than my "friends" so yes, we want you, but you can't be better than me. I try to find other people. But yeah...


I did. Mostly, I did not get an interview. The few places I did, I did not make it through the onsite.
