Farm vehicles stolen from Ukraine by Russians have been remotely disabled (cnn.com)

As controversial as John Deere's anti-right-to-repair policies have been, the company has remotely disabled plundered farm equipment that was taken to Chechnya. On one hand I remain irritated at their anti-consumer stance, while on a different level this is satisfying.

I think it won't take too long until these vehicles work again. Hacking John Deere has spawned a whole community already and maybe they will just replace overall electronics. I guess they won't insist on warranty in any case.

> Over the past few weeks there's been a growing number of reports of Russian troops stealing farm equipment, grain and even building materials

Reminds me of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holodomor

Pretty sure most people who jailbreak their tractors get their software from Russia. I have no doubt they'll be able to overcome the lockout.
