These are basic operations you'd think standard protocols would cover. USB audio definitely does. So why?

Maybe your monitoring has cached DNS records? It seems like DNS is the problem here:

    $ host sayr.us
    sayr.us is an alias for sinkhole.paloaltonetworks.com.
    sinkhole.paloaltonetworks.com has address 72.5.65.111

Isn't Palo Alto Network Sinkhole a feature deployed on your own firewall? I'll look into why it gets sinkholed, I'm guessing they use public blacklist and I was added to one of them.
