Those to me sound like the words of a user with incompatible hardware, or maybe a user that installed LFS or Gentoo. Hell, I'm a seasoned linux user but installing an Archlinux from scratch with full disk encryption is still a full day's work on fully compatible hardware. Let's not cast the first stone just yet.


"A full day's work" is still one 8-10 hours. If you go a single week without needing to tinker with your installation significantly, you're still spending less time on administration than the OP claimed to be.


A Gentoo install does not take 8-10 hours a week to maintain. Even installing either of Gentoo or Arch Linux is only a full day's of work if you go off script from the default install instructions.
