Russians are shooting civilians and bombing hospitals. There is always a lament about not stopping Rwanda before it got so bad. This is a time that intervention is needed.
Great point! Neither should the next batch of states that Russia gets carved up into. But realistically how many of those bombs were kept ready and are now usable? They have to be maintained, and if the russian gear and vehicles are any indication, they'd probably accidentally nuke themselves if they tried.
Putin is betting that he is willing to always go one step further than NATO, and he is correct.
If NATO puts boots on the ground, Putin will deploy tactical nukes. He knows NATO won't match it because NATO cares about Ukrainian lives and Putin doesn't.
NATO does not have to put boots on the ground, just bomb the sh*t out of remaining Russian ground forces and provide more long range air defense systems to Ukraine. Of course this is becoming more and more hard because they are now taking defensive positions and are spreading out near civilian structures but so far the main problem is bombing of civilians without impunity.
