Judging by history the history has never taught anybody. So if sanctions will be lifted I am sure there will be plenty of Western companies willing to “capitalize on the opportunity “.
The problem for Russia is its ever increasing dependence on China. Sanctions pushes in that direction even strongly. And compared with Western companies Chinese ones has much less problems to bribe Russian officials or ignore local laws if they can get away from it. Plus they are much more strongly controled by Beijing which would make Russia much more vulnerable to any changes in politics in China.
