Would those be the "reddit volunteers" or was there a more serious push for foreign volunteers with actual military experience? I know some redditors actually went to Ukraine but I'd be surprised if the ukrainian government needed untrained men with dubious will to fight instead of actual ex military types.


It's a mixed bag, judging by TikTok videos. Some are 'on vacation', some are ex-mil with private contractor experience. Starry-eyed idealists (in Syria, these would generally be with Kurdish YPG/PKK), and those who'd enlist in French Foreign Legion (hint: you don't want to look at their past).
