I've been poking around the WebSDR world for a year or so now since I first heard of numbers stations. As I explore the waterfall, one thing that has continually interested me is just how much data is still being transmitted in Morse code. It's EVERYWHERE on the dial.

It's truly an interesting time to be alive that I can stream radio frequencies from across an ocean.


I suspect much of the Morse that you hear is radio amateurs (hams) talking to each other. Morse, being a very narrow bandwidth signal, is hardy against noise and low power situations - depending on the band, it is often not hard to talk with someone thousands of miles away using only a few watts.
