Another area where AI can help out is in upscaling. Topaz Software's Gigapixel AI is likely to be the first of a new class of enhancement software that can help take old slightly fuzzy JPEGs from years past, and make them look brand new.

As with computing, the gear gets better and lighter as time goes on. The sensors still need to be large, but the new mirrorless cameras eliminate some of the bulk.

It's always going to be a fun hobby. I look forward to the future.

I've actually given pause to buying a new camera.

An iPhone 13 Pro can easily create images which look very very good.

Even if a 3k camera can do better, you probably don't have it with you for every shot.
