The Evil List (slate.com)

IBM, with a documented history of helping the Third Reich carry out one of the most staggering acts of evil in all of human history[1], is near the bottom of this list. Microsoft is higher up because of recent purchases of data-rich services. Someone needs to rethink their prioritization.

This list is absurd for two reasons. First, it tunnel visions on tech companies without having the self awareness to note that most of the things it criticizes these companies for are shared by all capitalist enterprise. Just look at the list of evils committed by Amazon. Poor working conditions? Cutthroat competition? Seeking taxpayer subsidies? Manipulating the tax code to achieve a lower bill? Working closely with the government? Kowtowing to China?

How on earth are any of these things unique to Amazon or tech?

And the second flaw is resultant from Slate being a propaganda outlet for big city liberals--absolutely no mention of the campaign of Democrat supported free speech suppression that these platforms have embarked on.

Also it tends to ignore it minimize things like:

Child slavery

Cancer research suppression

Climate change research suppression

Massive pollution

Inciting war for profit

Etc.

That actual companies do today that are genuinely and knowingly evil.

Why the editorialisation? This is a list of supposedly "evil" tech companies.

Hint: look at his submission history.

Interestingly he also seems to post semi-positively about Amazon [0], but then posts this list as an anti-Google piece, which happens to rank Amazon at #1 most evil

Great hint, the list is very biased.

I believe our friend has a particular issue with one company and send to heavily favor another one.

May it be that some companies are hiring bots or something to improve their online presence and worsen its competitors'?

airbnb is "evil" because individuals buy property in a city and use that property however they want.

google is "evil" because they cut back on a meeting from once a week to once a month and restricted the meeting to a certain topic. Of all the things you could list google for being evil with, you choose that.

I will be ignoring everything from slate.com from here on out.

Title should be "The Evil List, Which tech companies are really doing the most harm?".

Strange Amazon is number 1.

I guess high tech weapon makers aren't as evil as Amazon/s
