Chrome's new Permissions Request Chip UI. A replacement for permission pop-ups (chrome.com)

THANK HEAVENS. Such a huge improvement. Finally. Unconscionable that users have been subjected to such harassment for so long.

It's great that the promise-based model of permissions enables this flexibility.

Alas, everyone only decided to make sense after it was too late, I think? When was User Gestures (needing user interaction to kick off a capability) introduced? I feel like we invented User Gestures to "solve" this problem. So now to request permissions, you need a user gesture. So every site will already have a pop-up in the site. Which then triggers the chip. So what really changes, from this improvement?

Can we now please do the same for cookie consent?

Make it a standard Web api with a Browser interface?

"chip"? o.0
