Autonomy used to produce this thing called DRE (dynamic reasoning engine), we used to use a ton of them as search engine well before elastic search was a thing. And of course we used to spend a metric fuckton of money in licenses.
Later Autonomy was sold to HPE and they renamed the core product to IDOL IIRC, as in "Intelligent Data Operating Layer".
Afaik Autonomy/IDOL was great as a search engine, however the whole market was pretty much cannibalized by ElasticSearch.
