I think it's useful to think of the FDA at operating at a "statistical" level — they need to optimize for the MOST people doing the fewest dumb things. It's like they're playing "house" in a casino, and the goal is for as few people as possible to get sick.

They'd rather us not try "crazy" things like use raw egg white or yolks in foods and cocktails, bc even though the likelihood of us as individuals getting sick from it- statistically someone's going to get sick, and they're getting the blame.

Not being troll-y but...If this is the case, then things aren't working out very well. I'm not sure what the solution is, but it's definitely not doubling down on what isn't working.


this! same applies to any government body’s health and safety recommendation.


Just because the bacteria is dead doesn't mean the toxins it produced have been decomposed by the heat. Leaving food out is very bad idea.
