The takeaways #1 and #2 at the end are about marketing. Sure, you didn't market it but who cares, was that the point? Either way I'm not interested in blockchain marketing. This is a learn by doing project.

Yes, it was fun to make – and similar to milliondollarhomepage. The building part was relatively easy, using the resources I mentioned. However, trying to get users – which would have been the really fun part – is probably 10X harder than actually writing the code. (If code is never (barely?) executed, is it really code?) :)
At the moment, there's not much that is game like. I was thinking that if you had many people claiming tokens, then you might have factions that wanted to land grab from each other. (Similar to what happened when Reddit did something similar w/ /r/place: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnRCZK3KjUY)
