Our neighbor was hit by a self-driving car: sanfrancisco (reddit.com)

SF is always like some sort of skit. The person crossed the street, SFPD warned them about traffic, they walked back and got hit by a car capable of self driving that was driven by the safety driver.

What a story. The existence of the cops already at the scene just really makes it.

Clickbait!

TL;DR: Their neighbor was hit by a Waymo car being manually piloted by a human. Also, it might have been raining out, and the person who got hit might have been jaywalking? Either way, seems like an unfortunate case where a person got hit by a driver, who just happened to be driving a car with some fancy sensors on top.

“Jaywalking” is a term with victim-blaming built in.

I jaywalk all the time and haven't been hit by any cars. How is it victim-blaming? What's the PC term for "crossing the street at not a crosswalk"?
